LINKAGE GROUPS.

Linkage Groups and Consultations are the way that PPN member organisations can have a real input into policy in their area of operation.  Linkage Groups bring together stakeholder organisations with a common interest to discuss their diverse views and interests in a specific policy area – such as housing, culture, environment, planning, etc.

These groups elect PPN Representatives to Boards or Committees, receive feedback from those representatives, and inform their activity.  They may also set policy priorities and input into consultations etc. on behalf of PPN.  This in turn, helps the member organisations to gain a deeper understanding of the local policy process.

It is important to note that the role of a Linkage Group is to facilitate and enable organisations to articulate a diverse range of views and interests within the local government system, not to reduce or homogenise this diversity so it is hoped that a wide range of groups will participate

Mayo PPN have put in place an online forum to make it easier for members of all registered Mayo Groups to contribute to any topics that interest them and add topics of their own that they would like to make available for discussion and consideration. To become a registered contributor to the forum simply ask the contact person for your group to forward your name and email address to mppnforum@mayoppn.net. The section of the forum devoted to Linkage can be found HERE. Because everybody can read whats on the forum Mayo County Councillors and County Staff can keep up to date with those issues that are of concern to the people of Mayo right accross the county.
